The Tree of Life

From my window. I can see them creating an orchard. They dig holes, move dirt, plant trees, and work on a water system. As he comes to see me between planting a peach tree, a pear, an apple tree, a plum tree, he told me that he like trees. For him planting trees, knowing that he will not be the one profiting from its shade, is understanding the meaning of life. It is the awakening to consciousness. “We are members of a specie; we are not the center. We are part of its continuation, as well as the survival of the wild animals and the planet. Planting several trees might not be a big thing but paraphrasing Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."  (1901-1978) I like the philosophy but I know him. I insisted, and? and? He conceded, “and it is my response to the politicians who deny science. You and I can trot in the middle of the trees, expressing our thoughts without lifting a finger”

Not moving a finger is in line with his constant evolution from the equitation of gestures and body parts to the equitation of subtle nuances in muscle tone and integrity. We perceive the integrity of your physique. Your aids might be accurate as individual gestures but for us, they are meaningless. From molecular level to gross anatomy, every part of your organism as well as our organism, is integrated by a mechanical system into a complete functional unit. When you move your leg expecting a specific reaction, we feel your whole body. The contraction of your forearms, and/or slackness of your abdominal or back muscles confuse our perception. You aggress our confusion applying more legs creating chaos and protective reflex contraction in an area where we have a tactile perception superior to your more subtle feeling. Efficiency for us and therefore ease and effortlessness relies on an overall integrity of our whole physique. If you pull on the reins, we stiffen our back. You increase then the shifts of your body weight to create movement and we protect our thoracolumbar spine from the shifts of your body weight contracting our back muscles with greater intensity. We are then unable physically to achieve the forward motion and balance control that you expect from your aids. In your mind you apply the correct aids and expect obedience. I reality, you create conditions that alter our capacity to move efficiently and achieve balance control.

He does not have to lift a finger because we communicate at the level of subtle nuances in muscle tone within the integrity of his whole physique. He analyzes my reactions in respect of my own integrity. Yesterday he asked me to pick up the right lead canter with a body almost perfectly straight. I know that I need such gymnastic but I have to work on it as I suffered on the race track of severe deep muscles damages on the caudal thoracic and lumbar area of my right side. I am a horse. My name is Chazot and I am a horse reacting like a horse. I protected my right side and tried to respond to his suggestion protecting my right side. I increased the tension of my neck on the left shifted a little the weight on my left shoulder. I did that creating an inverted rotation of my thoracic spine. This allowed me to keep my right haunch a little to the inside. In fact, I pushed my right haunch a lot to the inside thinking that he will focus on my haunch and miss the real problem. Wishful thinking. He opposed his inside leg gently but addressed the problem at its source. He did not address the tension on the left side of my neck. Instead, he helped me to explore greater elevation of my trunk between my front legs, which corrected my inverted rotation and consequently the tension of my neck. I kept for a few strides my right haunch to the right. He just told me amused, “Give me a break; it is more work to do that than to explore straightness.” I shaked my head throwing my front leg in an angry move. I know that he was right but I am a male and I have to make angry moves. Then I picked up the right lead canter and I was straight and it was easy.
