"The Science of Motion Elite course,

"Wisdom" makes critical thinkers realize that it is not a matter of extraordinary skill but very well a matter of proper thinking."

“Wisdom” is the portal to the new dimension made possible by extensive experience, the evolution of equine research studies, and the teaching of extraordinary horses. Jean Luc Cornille

Wisdom (1) 2022

Starting January 4, 2022, (join anytime) the New Science of Motion Elite Course, Wisdom (1), is a three-month course.

We cannot apply the significant evolution of knowledge at the level of thinking we were at when we learned traditional equitation. “Wisdom” explains new words and new concepts, but above all, how to reshape our thinking.

An active forum encourages questions and eventually modifies how the studies are published to answer the questions better.

The two pictures illustrate two horses apparently in “balance.”

The “balance” of the Grand Prix horse results from compressions that don’t reduce the intensity of the impact forces loading the front legs. The illustration is part of the second “Wisdom” publication, “Auxeticity,” explaining that tendons are auxetic and how the peculiarity can be enhanced or altered.

The New Science of Motion Elite Course, “Wisdom, 1” is offered at $300.00 USD for IHTC members and $350.00 USD for non-members

Wisdom 2 $300.00 USD  for IHTC members and $350.00 USD for non-members  and Wisdom 3 $300.00 USD for IHTC members and $350.00 USD for non-members

You do not have to want to be an instructor to take any of the courses.

Science of Motion's

Certification Program

I have been reluctant to create a certification program, concerned that graduated people might exploit their diplomas and stop their evolution. I hoped that the Science of Motion would be the "mother ship" to which members will turn when life challenges them with problems overwhelming their knowledge and experience. Some see the value of the Science of Motion support.

The Science of Motion will keep evolving until our last breath. The In Hand Therapy Course already provides a solid understanding of equine physiology and body function. The IHTC is the first step. The upcoming elite courses, Wisdom One, Wisdom Two, and Wisdom Three, will provide knowledge to perpetuate and further the Science of Motions legacy and effectively help horses and riders.

The three "wisdom" courses planned for 2022 use the advanced evolution of science to teach how to think. Intuition has to be protected and cultivated. However, intuition is not infallible; this is why intuition needs knowledge. Most riders' difficulties are not related to lack of skill but to a talent sclerosed by traditional thinking.

We will provide certification to those who will complete the IHTC course and the three "Wisdom" courses. The certificate will include an exam proving one's ability to analyze a lameness or kinematics abnormality on video, teach a specific subject, train, or retrain a horse.

Evolution is the Science of Motion's trademark. Once a year, certified members will have to provide a thesis to verify that they have followed the Science of Motion's evolution. The members' names qualified to teach the Science of Motion will be posted on the Science of Motion page and newsletter. People can contact us to know who is certified to teach the Science of Motion.

The Need for a Standard of Professional Practice

There is a need for a Standard of Professional Practice in teaching the Science of Motion Method of riding and training horses. Much damage has been done to the perception of the Method through those that stopped their evolution yet still teach the Science of Motion. The SOM Method is constantly evolving and results from over 50 years of experience with hundreds of horses. It is unreasonable to expect to teach the Method effectively without continually evolving. Members will face horses' and riders' problems outside of their experience and will need the assistance of the Science of Motion's extensive knowledge and experience. Through the Science of Motion, a member can grow beyond any limitation created by an encounter with a situation outside their current experience. Becoming a member of the Science of Motion is a privilege and we will consider the application.

Certified teachers of the SOM Method are expected to be actively involved in learning constantly. To this end, teachers are encouraged to evaluate their need for assistance from the Science of Motion and utilize it to enhance and improve their method application. At the heart of the Science of Motion's approach is a way of thinking that is not duplicated anywhere. Without this way of thinking about the horses and the rider, the practical application of actual scientific knowledge will fall short of full effectiveness. The constant evolution of the Science of Motion aims to establish this way of thinking firmly in each member. A member applying the technical aspects of the Science of Motion without understanding and embracing the thinking perspective is blending the Science of Motion with traditional thinking. Traditional thinking handicaps the Science of Motion, opens it up to misinterpretation, and limits its effectiveness. Certified teachers will have to demonstrate that they teach the technical application and the way of thinking that supports it and optimizes its effectiveness.

The Science of Motion Certification Program aims to develop one's ability to analyze a lameness or kinematics abnormality, teach specific subjects, and train/retrain horses with the Science of Motion thinking perspective. Completion of the program, including successfully passing the exam, means that the member is certified to teach the Science of Motion Method of riding and training horses. The Science of Motion will post the names of certified members on the Science of Motion page and Newsletter if they remain in good standing. Annual Recertification will ensure that each certified member stays current with the evolution of knowledge as it develops through the Science of Motion.

The Standard of Professional Practice for teaching the Science of Motion Method is quite high. Any member teaching as a Science of Motion teacher does a great disservice to the Science of Motion if this standard is not met. Your commitment to this standard is instrumental in promoting more widespread changes in the equestrian world to improve the lives of horses and riders worldwide. Thank you for your ambassadorship and dedication. Jean Luc and Helyn
