Science of Motion

Certification Program

Our reputation to create superior, sound, and kind equine athletes can be shared at three progressively advanced levels. Bronze, Silver and Gold.

***

* For riders, trainers and judges, the graduation is identified by the letter (S) as soundness. (Bronze S, Silver S and Gold S)

* For therapists and veterinarians, the graduation is distinguished by the letter (W) as wise. A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.” (Albert Einstein)

The best way to train a horse is to use techniques that “Align with the horse’s view of the world,” (Paul Mc Greevy, BVSc, PhD, Macvsc, associate professor of veterinary science at the University of Sydney in Vamden, New South Wales, Australia)

Knowledge allows understanding the horse’s view of the world, but the practical application of knowledge is not included in scientific reports. For the first time, a certification program is focusing on the practical application of the most advanced equine research studies.

In order for the horse to beneficiate from pertinent scientific discoveries, riders, trainers and judges need to understand that living organisms are constructed from tiers of systems within a system within a system. Riding and training techniques providing result at superficial level might be creating damages at another size scale. For instance, bending the neck with the reins is damaging the vertebral structure inducing inverted rotation of the thoracic spine.

The Science of Motion Certification Program provides the knowledge to efficiently prepare the horse’s physique for performances and verifies the trainer’s ability to apply the knowledge.

At every level of the horse industry, lameness being the cost of performances is unacceptable. The Science of Motion’s Certification Program is the first step toward ending such aberration. A horse properly coordinated for the effort performs at its utmost potential and remains sound. Proper body coordination is not described by judging standards. In fact, as they are today, judging standards are rewarding dysfunctional horses. The knowledge of the body coordination appropriated for the effort, the capacity to visually identify proper coordination as well as the ability to feel the difference between functional and dysfunctional, are provided through the Science of Motion’s publications, clinics and certification programs, (immersion).

Graduation from the certification program is based on points gained through study of the Science of motion’s publications, clinic participation, and attendance of immersion programs. An exam is also required verifying, riding skill, teaching experience, training ability, and knowledge.

Instead of riding and teaching, the (W) program will test work in hand ability and lunging experience
